Icy blue headwarmer
Inspired by crisp, clear Winter days.
These cosy ear warmers ward off the chilly weather whilst adding a pop of colour and touch of joy to any outfit. Inspired by vintage 1950s ear warmers (or cuddle caps), I have created a piece using a simple, stockinette stitch that allows the flecked, Donegal wool to stand out as the star of the show.
The headwarmer is approximately 12cm wide and it can be tied easily to keep your ears toasty, despite your head size
Made by me
Each piece is hand-knitted by me, Gracie, in my Kent studio using a hand-operated, refurbished, secondhand knitting machine. I use the finest, natural chunky wool spun in Donegal, Ireland and Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Each piece is fully-fashioned and carefully linked by hand, producing little to no waste. Ready to ship, so your knit will be on its way soon.
Care guide
Wool is naturally antibacterial and odour-resistant, so frequent washing is not necessary - airing out is often enough.
When washing, use a gentle wool cycle or hand wash in lukewarm water. Gently press out excess water (never wring), reshape and dry flat.
Store folded rather than hung to help your knitwear keep its shape.
Sustainability
My pieces are made-to-order, meaning I only make what is needed and avoid unnecessary waste. Each piece is made by hand and from durable UK-spun wools, meaning I can ensure the production of high quality garments made to last. When my pieces do eventually reach the end of their life (hopefully after many hundreds of wears) the wool will completely biodegrade, returning gently to the Earth.
